Privacy Policy
MacProbe is a MacBook Pro price tracker. We take privacy seriously and collect only what we need to run the service.
What We Collect
Email address — when you set a price alert or create an account. Used to send you price drop notifications and, if opted in, a weekly deal digest. We do not sell your email or use it for unrelated marketing.
Account information — if you sign in via Google, Apple, or email/password (handled by Clerk). We receive your name and email address from your identity provider. Passwords are never stored by MacProbe.
Watchlist, click history, and preferences — when signed in, we store which models you bookmark, the last 50 deals you clicked, and display preferences (default condition, source, alert frequency). This data lives in our database and is tied to your user account.
Usage analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across sites. We also log aggregate events (tab views, deal clicks, alert signups) via Cloudflare Analytics Engine. These logs contain no personally identifiable information.
Affiliate click data — when you click an eBay deal link, eBay Partner Network may set a cookie on eBay.com to attribute any resulting purchase for commission purposes. This is governed by eBay's privacy policy.
How We Use Your Data
Price alerts: we email you when a listing matches your target price and condition. You can delete your alerts at any time from the Alerts page.
Account features: your watchlist and preferences are synced across devices when signed in. Deal click history is stored for your own reference in the Account panel.
Service improvement: aggregate analytics help us understand which models and deal sources are most useful. We do not build individual user profiles.
Third-Party Services
Cookies
MacProbe does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. If you sign in, Clerk sets a session cookie to keep you logged in — this is essential for the service and is not used for advertising.
Data Retention
Price alerts are stored until you delete them. Account data (watchlist, history, preferences) is retained while your account is active. Usage analytics are aggregated and not tied to individuals.
Your Rights
You can delete price alerts at any time from the Alerts page. You can access the data we hold about you by contacting us. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
